Ingredient Spotlight: Treat Yourself to Roses

Is there a better time to highlight the superstar ingredients in our Rose Blossom scented products than a week before Valentine’s Day? The roses everywhere — sold on street corners and front and center at supermarkets — are one of my favorite parts of this holiday! The floral scent is unmistakably romantic, pretty and highly distinct.

The ingredients that make our Rose Blossom Hand and Body Lotion and Body Wash smell like a garden of roses is the Rose Geranium oil (Pelargonium Graveolens) and the Palmarosa (Cymbopogen Martini).

And here a 9 fun facts you probably didn’t know about both:

1.  Rose Geranium comes from South Africa and is a sought-after oil for perfumers and aromatherapists.

2.  Rose Geranium helps stabilize skin — both oily and dry — to make it supple and soft.

3.  There are approximately 700 species of geranium, but only 10 produce enough viable oil for extraction. The ones in rose gardens are in the group that fail to produce enough oil to extract.

4.  Rose Geranium has a long history of treating burns and other skin disorders.

5.  Palmarosa essential oil is extracted from a wild-growing grass in Ethiopia.

6.  Palmarosa is used as a flavoring agent, or like in our case, used in soaps, perfumes and other cosmetics.

7.  Palmarosa oil has antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic properties

8.  When used as an aromatherapy treatment, Palmarosa can relax muscles, fight depression, ease fatigue, and help treat anxiety.

9.  Even though this oil comes from a grass, it smells like geranium and rose — which is why it’s a star ingredient in our Rose Blossom products here at Nurture My Body.

Treat yourself (or someone special) this Valentine’s Day with the lovely scent of Rose in our organic Rose Blossom Hand and Body lotion or body wash!
