Make Sure You're Using Organic Shampoo for Your Baby!

Happy Hump Day Family!

Today I want to talk to you about choosing safe shampoo and body wash for your baby. Your baby is the most precious thing in your world, and you would never do anything to harm them. But what if you were harming them without knowing it? If you aren’t careful about the products that you use to bathe your bundle of joy then you might be.

Four years ago, The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (a great organization that lists Nurture My Body as a "champion" for safe cosmetics) came out with the news that Johnson & Johnson’s iconic baby shampoo contained the formaldehyde-releasing preservative quaternium-15, as well as the chemical byproduct 1,4-dioxane. Formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane are known carcinogens.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported that “the presence of 1,4-dioxane, even as a trace contaminant, is cause for concern,” and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services added formaldehyde to its list of known human carcinogens in June 2011.

Johnson & Johnson’s baby shampoo has become the poster child for the need for chemical reform in the United States— because nothing says we need tighter chemical regulation than toxic baby shampoo.

Here at Nurture My Body, we certainly don’t want you using toxic baby shampoo. Your child is priority one. And our safe baby care products are made with this in mind.

Nurture My Body’s line for little ones contains pure certified organic ingredients that are handmade. Our safe skin and hair care products for babies never contain parabens, phthalates or sodium lauryl sulfate. Oh, and they certainly don’t have carcinogens. They boast the Environmental Working Group’s safest rating of zero, so you can provide the best for your baby.

Lots of love to you and your kiddos!
